Beauty and Mystery in Druid Hill Park

Rare Earth, Rare Druid

I have long admired this glorious tree, a maple for all seasons. It guards an entrance to the deep interior. As the rare earth itself, Druid’s trees lift spirits, even when the maple in its skeletal winter form shows vigor. The park is filled with 65 species of trees. Oaks, tulip, poplar and American beech are widespread in the old growth northern forest area. For a fee in a replanting program, citizens can have trees from 35 species planted, documented and cared for: maples, black gums, hickories, oaks, others.
